Hair care in the summer months

In the summer months, when we enjoy the sun and the salty sea water, we need to pay a little more attention to the hair and skin care. The combination of sun and salt causes the hair and skin to dry more intensively and therefore need additional moisturizing care. Below we share with you some tips on how to shine with silky beautiful hair, even on hot summer days.

Air-dry your hair

In summer, it is not recommended to use hairdryers and hair straighteners and curlers, as the heat further dry out the hair and remove its shine.

Protect your hair from the sun with headgear or scarves

UV rays lighten and dry the hair. Therefore, the hair becomes more brittle and rough to the touch, thus its colour also fades. Most headgear does not transmit UV rays and thus protects our hair, and caps with a visor also partially protect the face.

Additional hair care

In the summer months, classic hair care with shampoo and conditioner will probably not be enough. Dried hair needs additional care, which can be provided in a simple and natural way, without expensive treatments in a beauty and hair salons.

Using coconut or cocoa butter, which in addition to fatty acids also contain vitamins and minerals that nourish and moisturize the hair. Thus, they can serve as additional hair care in several ways:

As protection factor (SPF): Cocoa butter has a natural SPF 4. If applied on the hair before sunbathing, it slightly protects the hair from the harmful effects of the UV rays.

As a hair mask: Apply melted coconut or cocoa butter on wet hair (beware – cocoa butter hardens at around 25 degrees, be careful not to harden on the hair, as it is difficult to remove it!), Leave the mask on the hair for 20 -30 minutes, then wash your hair with shampoo. In the case of oily hair, avoid applying butter to the scalp.

As a hair balm: After shampooing, apply a small amount of melted butter on the hair and leave on for 2-3 minutes. Wash with warm water.

As a hair care oil: Coconut oil contains mainly medium-chain fatty acids, which can penetrate deep into the hair and provide moisturizing care. Finger-comb a few drops into your hair to hydrate the dry ends.

Extra tip: Cocoa and coconut butter can also be used for skin care after sunbathing. Cocoa butter, due to its natural protection factor 4, also during sunbathing.

Nourish your hair from the inside out

Nourished hair is a beautiful hair. If we want shiny hair, we must at least roughly follow the principles of a healthy diet, consume a lot of minerals and vitamins, especially vitamin B. One of the most important “ingredients” of hair is the protein collagen. Collagen is what gives strength and elasticity to the hair. After the age of 20, the synthesis of collagen in the body begins to slightly decrease, so it is recommended to add collagen powder to the diet for a lush hairstyle. Especially in the summer months, when hair is negatively affected by several external factors, proper hair nutrition is important.
