Ana Meke – NCSF personal trainer

WHO AM I?

First of all, let me shortly introduce myself. I’m Ana and I’m a personal trainer with an international NCSF certificate. I’ve been a trainer for more than 7 years, and I’ve been training for more than 15. I love outdoor activities and weightlifting at the gym. I love mountains and long hikes with photogenic views. I am a big foodie at heart, but in practice I like to prepare healthy meals. I take basic foods to a higher level with pleasure. Candies will not buy me, but it is easy to “bribe” me with good quality cup of coffee.

What is my story?

As a child, I loved sports in their primary, natural form. In general, climbing trees, running back and forth… When I got to elementary school, however, I wasn’t exactly the biggest fan of Physical Education. My results were always somewhere in the middle, usually among the worse than the better. In 7th grade, I started to feel the need for sports again and enrolled in a club where they taught taekwondo. I persisted in this sport for about 8 years and won a black belt. At the beginning I competed, but then came the period of puberty and I gained quite a few kilos. Because of that I was supposed to compete in a higher category, where I could not persist.  I also gave up because of lack of time. The kilos didn’t go down, and my bad mood escalated. Because I felt extremely insecure about my body, I started going to the gym. Ok, its the first time at the gym. All the equipment looks similar, right when I go for one, it gets occupied by a muscle man who does 5 aggressive repetitions and then looks in the mirror. Sounds familiar? First visit to the gym is always uncomfortable. Since a healthy diet goes hand in hand with fitness, I of course decided to start LOSE WEIGHT. If you train a lot and eat less you can lose weight, right? Unfortunately, it’s not that simple.

I tried all sorts of diets. It started with those good old classics that you can find online by searching: How to lose 10 kg fast? You print a menu with 500kcal and dip the toast in the coffee and drink 2l of light fruit yoghurt. In the evening you are so hungry that you eat some biscuits… but don’t panic, because tomorrow is a new day… If not tomorrow, than on Monday, next month, or even better, after the new year. Then I progressed to DO NOT EAT AFTER 6pm. Then another 7-day cleansing diet and a bunch of other pointless attempts.

By torturing myself with diets and trainings at the gym, I developed a kind of love-hate relationship with the healthy lifestyle. I had various questions, and I started looking for answers. I got involved in a kind of prize game where you write blogs about your healthy living habits. It got under my skin. The hard work finally paid off.

There were visible changes on my body. That’s when I decided to get a license and become a personal trainer. My thoughts were focused on the fitness lifestyle. I thought I was eating healthy because my body looked healthy. However, because I was deficient in macronutrients, I quickly lost my period. I still had quite a few problems with my self-esteem, which, by the way, I am still solving today. I decided to put my health first and gained a few kilos again. So, I started struggling with myself again, looking for the perfect diet that would suit me. Keto, fasting and other attempts again proved unsuccessful. I was getting closer and closer to discovering that I am an individual person and that I need an individual approach.

So I took a look at my results, found out which diet suited me, matched with the meals I enjoyed, and finally found a winning combination that I could follow through my entire life.

Do I eat potica? Yes! Do I eat a healthy version? NO. If I can afford a piece of potica twice a year, let it be the right one!

What about pizza? Oh my favourite! Free of fatty cheeses and bunch of yeasts.

So, now you have “briefly” met me. Below you can read why I decided to expose myself and introduce you to the healthy lifestyle.

What is my mission?

My mission is not to make everyone look perfect or make all babes have the same round buttocks – but to make people healthy and happy with themselves. Because a sculpted body is not necessarily a fit body, and a body with curves is not necessarily unhealthy.

I would like to bring people closer to a mindset where health comes first. My experience and work on myself taught me that each person is an individual being who needs attention and individual treatment.

I would like to show you that healthy eating can be really tasty, that you don’t have to eat things you don’t like and that you can indulge in some goodies from time to time.
